How to practise

  1. Pick your exam (SSC DEST, court clerk) or set the language, time and target speed.
  2. The timer starts with your first key. Type the highlighted word; green words are right, red are wrong.
  3. See your net speed, accuracy and every mistake at the end. Practise 15 minutes a day and track your best score.

Typing is only one part of the exam. Practise the written papers too with free mock tests and practice sets, including computer awareness.

Questions

How is typing speed calculated?

Gross speed counts every 5 key depressions (including spaces) as one word, per minute. Net speed subtracts the wrong words per minute. Accuracy is the share of typed words that match the passage.

What speed do I need for SSC CHSL or CGL?

The Data Entry Speed Test asks for 35 words per minute in English (10,500 key depressions an hour) or 30 words per minute in Hindi (9,000 an hour). Always check the current notification for your post and category.

Can I practise Hindi typing?

Yes. Choose Hindi and type with your Hindi keyboard (Inscript, or Remington through Google Input Tools or Windows). The test compares Unicode text, like exam software.
